During my PhD, I will look into the genomic basis underlying the cichlid diversity of the Lake Tanganyika at both species and tribes level. My first project was to identify and quantify repeats and specifically transposable elements. My current and main PhD project focuses on vision and how Tanganyikan cichlids have adapted to different ecological niches such as depth. DNA and RNA sequencing data will be investigated.
