Current Research

The olfactory system is an important sensory system when it comes to hunting, food search, mating behaviours and more. Especially for fishes, where life is restricted to the aqueous environment, chemoreception plays an important role. To reveal more about the olfactory system of fishes, I will look at the morphological structure of the nose as well as the genome of different cichlid species and investigate into the correlation with the sensitivity towards odours.
